The hand painted eggs sold by SWF International are donated by Angela Costiuc, an accomplished architect from Romania.  It was her generosity that inspired the EGG Campaign.  The International award winner artist supports the efforts of SWF to eradicate FGM in Sierra Leone.  Engaging globalization at its best, the EGG, a traditional symbol of new life and new hope, embodies the spirit of change as we join forces to improve the condition of women.  Designed in Romania and sold in the United States of America and Japan, the proceeds collected from the art work are used to build a school, a clinic and a library in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Angela's exquisite designs are a merry intersection of her 30 years old architectural techniques and the rich folk art from her Romanian roots in Bucovina.
 
Each Egg designed by Angela is intricately decorated with traditional motifs intertwined in her geometric figures.  The accuracy of a well-trained architect's hand has earned the admiration of art lovers from all over the world.  Most important is the unique technique used to draw the stories on the Eggs.  Angela uses a rudimentary instrument similar to a kistka to apply the beeswax on the Egg.  Contrary to the technique used in the popular Ukrainian style, Pysanky, the actual design sealed on the Egg is drawn free-hand using the wax, which is then left on the shell.  

The variety of the three dimensional effect is a clear indication of the high level of mastery attained by the artist, marking her designs as favorites in personal Egg collections.  Beauty lovers are immediately attracted by the magic of the Egg's natural simplicity enhanced by each of Angela's designs.  Her passion for symbols remains the most important element of the design, flawlessly  translated unto the Egg through Angela's refined talent.
